Eligibility
To qualify for the Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship, applicants must:
Be registered full-time for Fall 2025 and/or Winter 2026 (or Winter 2026 for newly admitted students).
Reside in Alberta during enrollment (home or local address must be updated in Bear Tracks).
Complete the AGES Student Declaration Form affirming Alberta residency.
Demonstrate academic excellence through:
GPA of 3.3 or higher over the most recent 15 units of coursework (or Admission GPA for new students)
Research, publications, presentations, performances, or community engagement
Previous scholarly awards, scholarships, or prizes
Be enrolled in years 1–4 of a master’s program or years 1–6 of a doctoral program.
Students previously awarded AGES or those in qualifying programs are not eligible.

Non-renewable, but faculties may nominate students again in subsequent years if they meet eligibility.

Application Procedure
Faculty Nomination Required: Students cannot apply directly.
Complete the AGES Student Declaration Form and submit it to your faculty by the internal faculty deadline.
Faculties review applicants based on academic merit and allocated quota.
Faculty nominates selected candidates to Graduate Program Services (GPS) via the GSMS Awards Portal by Friday, 14 November 2025.
GPS verifies eligibility and notifies scholarship recipients directly.
Students must contact their faculty regarding internal selection results.
