The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald awards up to:

6 Senior Fellowships for distinguished professors and scholars

8 Junior Fellowships for highly qualified postdoctoral researchers

This internationally renowned fellowship program enables scholars to carry out independent research free from teaching and administrative duties. Fellows will work within a vibrant academic community and receive a fully equipped office and free accommodation in Greifswald for the duration of the fellowship.

The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald awards up to:

6 Senior Fellowships for distinguished professors and scholars
8 Junior Fellowships for highly qualified postdoctoral researchers
This internationally renowned fellowship program enables scholars to carry out independent research free from teaching and administrative duties. Degree Level

DAAD Germany Alfried Krupp Fellowships 2026 (Fully Funded) is available to undertake Fellowship level programs at Germany Universities.

Focus Area For 2026 27

The interdisciplinary theme for the upcoming academic year is:

“Research on the Baltic Sea Region – From Culture to Ecology”
However, applicants from all research fields are welcome to apply. Projects will be assessed based on their scholarly excellence and connection with the University of Greifswald .

Please note:

The fellowship does not cover travel, insurance, or lab expenses
Partners and children are welcome; the institute supports family stays

Co Funding Possibilities

Senior Fellows are encouraged to:

Combine a research semester at their home institution with a 6-month fellowship at the Kolleg
Seek possible co-funding or sabbatical support from their university

Junior Fellows are expected to:

Be granted leave of absence by their institution for the duration of the fellowship
If the applicant's home institution can co-fund the research stay, details should be included in the application.

Eligible Nationalities

Open to applicants of all nationalities.

Alfried Krupp Senior Fellowships

Open to:

Experienced, internationally recognized scholars with outstanding achievements in both research and teaching.

Alfried Krupp Junior Fellowships

Open to:

Early-career researchers who hold a doctoral degree and show strong potential in their fields.
Both German and international scholars are eligible to apply.

Fellowship Duration

Fellows may choose between two types of stays:

6 months : Either from October 1 to March 31 or April 1 to September 30
12 months : Full academic year from October 1 to September 30

Applications for the 2026/27 academic year are open from:

June 1 to August 31, 2025
