Biodiversity
or an equivalent field (minimum 180 ECTS)
English Proficiency
You must provide proof of English proficiency.
Depending on your trajectory, French or Spanish may also be required.

Master’s Degree (Joint MSc) in Tropical Biodiversity and Ecosystems
Graduates receive a Joint Master Degree awarded by the European universities they attend, plus a Europass Certificate signed by all participating institutions.

First Call (Scholarship + Self-Funded Applications)
Opens: 1 September 2025
Submit button enabled: 1 October 2025
Deadline: 30 November 2025 (23:59:59 CET)
Evaluated as a batch after deadline
Referees deadline: 3 December 2025
This call is mandatory for scholarship seekers.
Second Call (Only If Places Remain – Self-Funded Only)
Opens: January 2026
Deadline for all applicants (if open): 20 June 2026
Referees must complete forms by 23 June 2026
After this, call may remain open only for EU residents with EU Bachelor degrees, until places fill.

Motivation letter

Choice of mobility trajectory
Submit the form before deadline.
The system sends automated requests to referees.
Wait for email notification of results from TROPIMUNDO / VLIR-UOS / EACEA.
Tuition Fees
€9,000 per year – Students from non-EU / Third Countries
€4,500 per year – Students from EU / Programme Countries
Self-funded students get a €500 refund for each €4,500 paid.

Is the TROPIMUNDO Erasmus Mundus scholarship fully funded? Yes. If awarded, it covers tuition, monthly stipend, travel, insurance, and other mobility-related costs.
Can students from any country apply? Yes. The program is open to all nationalities worldwide.
Do I need French or Spanish proficiency? Only if you select universities that teach in those languages. English proficiency is mandatory for all.
Is a Biology degree mandatory? You must have a Bachelor in Biology, Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or an equivalent field.
