University Of Turku Tuition Fees 2026

Tuition fees apply to students from outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland. The fees depend on the faculty and degree program.

Who Is Exempt from Paying Tuition Fees?

You Will Not Be Charged Tuition Fees If You

Hold an EU Blue Card or permanent residence permit in Finland
Have a continuous residence permit (type A) for reasons other than studies
Possess an EU Family Member’s Residence Card or temporary protection status
Are an exchange student or enrolled in a doctoral program

University Of Turku Scholarships 2026

1. Early Bird Discount
Newly admitted master’s students can receive a €2,000 Early Bird discount for the first-year tuition fee by accepting their offer and paying within a set timeframe. (Available for Master’s degree students only.)
2. University of Turku Merit Scholarship
The Merit Scholarship rewards students who excel academically at UTU.
For Master’s students: 50% of 2nd-year tuition fee
For Bachelor’s students: 50% of 2nd and 3rd-year tuition fees

Requirements:

Minimum 55 ECTS credits per academic year
Average grade ≥ 3.0/5.0
At least 4 ECTS in Finnish language completed before applying
All eligible students are invited to apply each spring.
3. Fulbright–University of Turku Graduate Award
In partnership with the Fulbright Finland Foundation, this award supports U.S. citizens pursuing Master’s or PhD studies at UTU.

It includes:

Monthly grant: €1,000
Tuition fee waiver: full coverage for the program duration

Note: British citizens who arrived after January 1, 2021 are subject to tuition fees like other non-EU students. Those who applied for residence rights before September 30, 2021 remain exempt.

Application Procedure

Apply for your desired Bachelor’s or Master’s program at the University of Turku.
Pay the first-year tuition (if required).
If eligible, you will be invited to apply for the Merit Scholarship in spring.
For U.S. applicants, apply through the Fulbright Finland Foundation website .
