Globally, women continue to face significant health, social, and rights disparities. Nearly half of married women lack decision-making power over their sexual health, and 1 in 5 young women are married before turning 18. Without accelerated action, it will take centuries to achieve gender equality.

The Hauwa Ojeifo Scholarship empowers young leaders by providing them with the tools, knowledge, and global platform to create transformative impact in their communities. Scholars are equipped to lead initiatives that address systemic challenges affecting women and girls, fostering a new generation of empathetic, courageous, and visionary leaders.

Eligibility

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must:

Be aged 18-30 at the time of the One Young World Summit ( candidates slightly older may be considered if they demonstrate exceptional impact ).

Hold a leadership role, work in an organization, or lead their own initiative with proven impact in at least one of the following areas: Mental Health, including neurodivergence and developmental differences Domestic & Sexual Violence Disability Rights & Rights of Older People Gynaecological Health & Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights Maternal and Child Health Issues of the Girl Child (FGM, Child-Adolescent Pregnancy, Child Marriage) Non-Communicable Diseases

Domestic & Sexual Violence

Disability Rights & Rights of Older People

Gynaecological Health & Sexual & Reproductive Health & Rights

Maternal and Child Health

About The Scholarship

Degree Level

The Hauwa Ojeifo Scholarship is not tied to a formal degree program. Instead, it targets emerging young leaders aged 18–30 who are actively leading initiatives or working in organizations focused on issues affecting women and girls.

So the scholarship is leadership- and impact-focused , rather than degree-focused. Applicants may be students, recent graduates, or young professionals, but there is no specific bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD requirement —what matters is demonstrated leadership and impact in relevant fields.
