Applicants must have fluency in English
Preference will be given to candidates who identify as non-male, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, or persons with disabilities
Open to candidates from all global regions

Suitable for:

1- Students, researchers, and academics in political science, international relations, peace studies
2- Policy advisors, foreign affairs professionals, diplomats
3- PhD candidates or holders, master’s or bachelor’s graduates with strong motivation

Degree Level

Heinrich Böll Foundation Germany Green Foreign Policy Fellowship 2025 (Fully Funded) is available to undertake level programs at Germany Universities.

Key Themes For Application

Applicants should be prepared to work on one or more of the following:

Feminist foreign policy and the Women, Peace & Security agenda
Climate diplomacy and ecological peacebuilding
Normative and ethical foreign policy frameworks
Human rights, justice, and global security
Decolonial approaches to trade and international relations
Game theory and strategic cooperation

What You Will Do As A Fellow

Develop a personal analytical strategy outlining goals and deliverables
Produce original policy material (articles, papers, analysis) during the first semester
Participate in networking and presentation events during the second semester
Submit monthly progress reports
Engage actively on social media and share insights
Contribute to the global discourse on progressive foreign policy

Benefits

Selected fellows will receive:

Stipend of €6,000 (gross), paid in installments during the first semester (July–December 2025)
Travel support for program-related events and conferences
Visa assistance (letter of invitation provided)
Visibility through Heinrich Böll Foundation’s website and social media platforms
Networking opportunities through alumni and expert engagement
Title of "Green Foreign Policy Scholar" upon successful completion

Applicants must submit:

Curriculum Vitae (Europass format, max 3 pages)
Motivation Letter (max 300 words)
Concept Note (max 2 pages) explaining the challenge in green foreign policy you want to address and your proposed strategy
Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an online interview in June 2025
Apply early: Applications submitted by May 15, 2025, will be given priority consideration.
