Herzog August Bibliothek Germany Short-Term Fellowships 2025-2026 is available to undertake Fellowship level programs at Herzog August Bibliothek (HAB).
Eligibility
1. Post-doc Fellowships (2026) Eligibility: Scholars within 6 years of completing their PhD (awarded in 2019 or later for the January 2025 application round). Duration : 6 to 10 months. Application Deadline: January 31, 2025. Fellowship Start Date: January 1, 2026. 2. Short-term Fellowships Eligibility: Open to scholars at all career stages, from post-docs to emeriti. Duration: 1 to 3 months. Purpose: Designed for short visits to gather source material for research projects. 3. NFDI4Memory FAIR Data Fellowships This fellowship focuses on advancing research on FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles. Next Application Cycle: Scheduled for 2025. 4. East-Central European Postdoc Fellowship Eligibility: Scholars from East-Central Europe specializing in historically oriented disciplines. Duration : 3 months. Requirements: Research must utilize the complementary holdings of three major institutions: Herzog August Bibliothek (Wolfenbüttel): Renowned for medieval and early modern collections. Gotha Research Library (Erfurt): Features collections from the ducal house of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg. Francke Foundations (Halle): Includes the Historical Library and Cabinet of Artefacts. Residence in at least one of the three locations is mandatory. 5.HAB-Newberry Library Chicago Fellowship This one-month fellowship supports projects requiring access to both the Herzog August Bibliothek and the Newberry Library in Chicago. Eligibility : Scholars with projects relevant to both collections. Application : Submit directly to the Newberry Library. Include your research focus and the relevant fellowship keyword ("Post-doc" or "Short-term") in the subject line. Applications will be reviewed by designated evaluators, with final selections made by the Scientific Advisory Board.
