Eligibility
Who Can Apply? The scholarship is available for applicants who: Have Hungarian ancestry and reside in a Hungarian diaspora community outside of the European Union, Serbia, and the Zakarpatska Oblast region of Ukraine. Are applying for a bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, doctoral, or non-degree program at an eligible Hungarian university. Demonstrate a strong commitment to studying in Hungary and reconnecting with their Hungarian heritage.

Selected applicants will receive: Tuition-free education at a Hungarian university. Monthly stipend: Bachelor’s, master’s, and one-tier master’s students: HUF 43,700 per month Doctoral students: HUF 140,000–180,000 per month Accommodation support: Free dormitory placement or HUF 40,000 monthly housing allowance. Medical insurance: Health coverage in Hungary. Travel reimbursement: Possible travel expenses for eligible students.

Step 2: Choose Your University and Program Applicants must apply to Hungarian higher education institutions participating in the scholarship program. Step 3: Prepare Your Application Documents Applicants must submit a complete application package, including: Online application form Motivation letter Proof of Hungarian ancestry (e.g., family tree, certificate of Hungarian heritage) Academic transcripts and diplomas Proof of language proficiency (for programs in English, Hungarian, or other languages) Letter of recommendation (for doctoral applicants) Research proposal (for doctoral applicants) Step 4: Submit Your Application Online All applications must be submitted via the Tempus Public Foundation’s online portal before the deadline on February 28, 2025.
