Eligibility

To be eligible for the ECF8 2025 , applicants must meet the following requirements: Academic Level: Candidates should be within 10 years of their PhD award (career breaks are considered). Employment Status: Applicants should normally hold a full-time or part-time salaried position at an Institution of Higher Education and Research. Independent scholars or those not currently in academic roles may also apply, provided they identify a host institution. Research Focus: Projects should address innovative research questions, challenge existing paradigms, and propose new solutions to social problems. Interdisciplinary and humanities-related research is encouraged.

The ECF8 2025 offers comprehensive financial and professional support, including: Funding Amount: Up to €81,500 (or GBP £67,500) to cover teaching buy-out costs and research expenses. Research Duration: Funding for up to 12 months, with the fellowship commencing no later than January 2026. Research Expenses: Reasonable support for research costs on a matched-funding basis with the host institution. Application Procedure

Prepare Required Documents: Research Proposal (including abstract, research topic, methodology, work plan, and outcomes). Anonymised bibliography (max. 2 pages). Anonymised budget and list of prior publications/outputs. Two letters of support from nominated referees. Institutional Approval: Applicants must confirm that their home institution is aware of their application and supports the proposed research.
