Eligibility

Experience: At least one year of Japanese studies completed by September 1, 2025. Commitment: Must return to their home university after completing the program. For Teacher Training Students Nationality: International educators (non-Japanese nationals). Age: Born on or after April 2, 1990. Academic Background: Graduates of teacher training schools or universities. Experience: Minimum of five years of teaching experience at elementary, secondary, or teacher training institutions. Commitment: Must return to their home country to resume teaching after the program.

The MEXT Scholarship 2025 is a fully funded opportunity that covers: Tuition Fees: Full coverage for the entire program duration. Monthly Stipend: Approximately 143,000 JPY for Teacher Training Students and 117,000 JPY for Japanese Studies Students. Travel Expenses: Round-trip airfare to and from Japan. Other Allowances: Additional support for relocation, research, and language training.

Application Procedure

Application Submission: Applications open on January 9, 2025, and must be submitted via email by February 10, 2025. Screening: Results of the initial screening will be announced by February 12, 2025. Exams and Interviews: Shortlisted candidates will take written exams in Japanese and English and attend interviews at the Embassy of Japan on February 26, 2025. Final Selection: Successful candidates will be recommended to MEXT, with final results announced by July–August 2025.
