Eligibility

To qualify for the International Excellence Award of KIT, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Must be an internationally recognized scientist or researcher.
Must have significant scientific achievements with global impact.
Research should address major societal challenges or future-oriented topics.
Must collaborate with a host institute at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Nomination must be submitted by a scientist affiliated with KIT.

Benefits

Recipients of the International Excellence Award of KIT and SCHROFF Foundation Fellowship will receive the following benefits:

Research funding up to €50,000 for equipment to support the research project
Subsistence allowance during the stay at KIT
Research stay of up to six months at the host institute
Opportunity to collaborate with leading scientists at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology
Possible research grant for up to one year for a postdoctoral researcher from the awardee’s research group

Steps To Apply

A researcher from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology nominates the candidate.
The nominator prepares the required documents.
The nomination package is submitted electronically to the program office.
The selection committee evaluates nominations and announces the results.

Completed nomination form
Personal statement of the nominator (scientific appraisal and laudation – maximum 3 pages)
Invitation from the host institute and description of the research project (maximum 3 pages)
Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the nominee
List of key publications (maximum 10)
One or two recommendation letters from internationally recognized experts
