PhD completed by the start of the fellowship
Up to 6 years postdoctoral experience (KWI International Fellowship)
Several years post-PhD experience (Thyssen@KWI Fellowship)
Strong research proposal relevant to KWI’s agenda
Excellent command of English (working language at KWI)

KWI Germany International Fellowships 2026 (Fully Funded) is available to undertake Fellowship level programs at Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities (KWI).

The KWI International Fellowship Programme is aimed at outstanding scholars from around the world. The fellowship supports early-career researchers—up to six years post-PhD—who wish to advance an independent project in the fields of humanities, cultural studies, or the social sciences. The research should align with the KWI research agenda , fostering interdisciplinary dialogue in a dynamic academic environment.

Important note : German nationals are eligible only if currently affiliated with an institution outside of Germany.
