Eligibility

To be eligible for the Laval University PBEEE scholarship, applicants must:

Be an international student or researcher
Have an excellent academic record
Apply for a research-based program only
Secure a faculty supervisor at Laval University before applying
Demonstrate strong research potential and academic excellence
Meet FRQ (Fonds de recherche du Québec) requirements
Not already hold another major Quebec government scholarship
Important: Applications without a Laval University supervisor will not be considered.

Benefits

The PBEEE scholarship provides generous financial support depending on the study level:

Masters Research

CAD $20,000 per year
Duration: Up to 2 years

Phd Doctoral Research

CAD $25,000 per year
Duration: Up to 4 years

Postdoctoral Fellowship

CAD $35,000 total
Duration: 1 year (non-renewable)

Short Term Research Grants

CAD $3,000 per month
Duration: Up to 4 months

Application Procedure

The application process is institutional and competitive, not direct:

Step 1 Identify A Research Program

Choose a Master’s, PhD, postdoc, or research project at Laval University.

Step 2 Contact A Supervisor

Reach out to a professor in your field
Obtain written agreement for supervision
Develop a research proposal together

Step 3 Internal Pre Selection Laval University

Submit application to Laval University’s internal selection process
University evaluates candidates and selects nominees

Step 4 Nomination To Quebec Program

Selected candidates are nominated to the PBEEE competition
Final evaluation is conducted by Quebec’s research funding authority

Step 5 Final Results

Successful candidates receive official scholarship confirmation
Results are typically announced after provincial review
