Eligibility

To be eligible for the LiU International Scholarship, applicants must:

Apply for a Master’s programme at Linköping University
Submit the application by the first admission round deadline
Upload all required documents on time
Rank a LiU Master’s programme as first priority
Be admitted to their first-choice programme in the First Notification of Selection Results
Be required to pay tuition fees

The LiU International Scholarship is available for most Master’s programs offered at Linköping University, including but not limited to:

Engineering & Technology
Computer Science & Cybersecurity
Biomedical Engineering
Statistics & Machine Learning
Sustainable Development
Industrial Engineering & Management
Social Sciences & International Relations
Urban and Regional Planning
Some programs may also be eligible for Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarships, depending on nationality and program.

Minimum Academic Requirements Mandatory

Applicants must meet at least one of the following:

GPA 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
First-class or high second-class degree
Equivalent scores such as: 75%+ (India) 80–85%+ (China) 8.0/10+ (10-point CGPA systems)
75%+ (India)
80–85%+ (China)
8.0/10+ (10-point CGPA systems)
Institutional rankings may also be considered. Applications that do not meet the minimum academic threshold will not be reviewed.

Application Procedure

There is no separate document submission required for the scholarship.

How to apply:

Apply for a Master’s program at Linköping University via the national admissions portal
Rank the LiU program as your first choice
Receive admission in the First Selection Results
Eligible students are invited to apply for the scholarship
Submit the scholarship application within the short application window
Scholarship recipients are announced on the official LiU website

Application Timeline

Scholarship application opens when First Selection Results are released
Application window is very short (usually a few days)
Scholarship results are announced in early April
Note: No additional documents are required during the scholarship application stage.

Important Scholarship Conditions

Only valid for the specific year and Master’s programme offered
If a student becomes a non-fee-paying student, the scholarship is revoked
Scholarship holders must complete at least 75% of course credits in the first academic year to retain the scholarship
LiU scholarships are rescinded if a Swedish Institute (SI) scholarship is awarded
Failure to obtain a Swedish residence permit on time may result in scholarship cancellation
