About the Scholarship and Types:

Financial support for your research degree is available through a variety of substantial scholarships at Macquarie University. These scholarships, designed to assist outstanding graduate researchers, are allocated through a competitive evaluation process.

Commonwealth funded Research Training Program (RTP) for domestic students and International Research Training Program (iRTP) for international students

Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (MQRES) for domestic students and International Macquarie University Research Excellence (iMQRES) for international students

Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarships (MQRES) for Indigenous Australians

Project-specific scholarships advertised for a specific project with a specific supervisor

Externally funded or co-funded scholarships

Eligibility

Applicants are required to meet the minimum academic standards for entry into their desired postgraduate research program. This typically involves holding a bachelor's degree with first or upper second-class honors or a master's degree with a substantial research component.

Effective from February 27, 2024, Macquarie University recognizes the Duolingo English Test (DET) with a minimum score of 95 for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Scholarship offerings encompass a range of valuable provisions tailored to support recipients throughout their academic journey, potentially including:

Tuition Fee Offset: Beneficiaries may receive support to cover their tuition fees, easing the financial burden associated with their chosen course of study.
Living Allowance (Stipend): Scholarships may provide a stipend, offering financial assistance to cover essential living expenses during the academic pursuit.
Top-Up Living Allowance: In addition to the base stipend, recipients may be eligible for an extra fund, further enhancing their financial support beyond the standard stipend.
Fixed Sum or One-Off Payment: Some scholarships may include a fixed sum or a one-time payment, providing recipients with additional financial resources.
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and/or Visa Application Costs: International students may benefit from scholarships covering the costs associated with Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and/or visa applications.
Commencing January 1, 2024, there will be a noteworthy nine per cent increase in the standard stipend rate for graduate researchers at Macquarie University. The updated stipend rate will be set at $35,000 per annum for full-time recipients.
For those pursuing the Bachelor of Philosophy, the scholarship holds a substantial value of $5000 per session , disbursed as a lump sum. This financial support aims to alleviate the academic expenses associated with the Bachelor of Philosophy program.

Eligible Nationalities

This scholarship is open to international students of all nationalities. (Except Australia and New Zealand).
