Murdoch University, Australia Linkage PhD Research Scholarship 2025 (Fully Funded) is available to undertake PhD level programs at Murdoch University.
Eligibility
Must hold an Honours or Master’s degree in a relevant field: Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany (Topics 1-3). Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering with strong programming skills (Topic 4). Strong English communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team. Prior experience in relevant fields such as: Community and functional ecology. Ecological restoration and vegetation rehabilitation. Programming, machine learning, and image processing (for Topic 4). Use of statistical tools (e.g., R software, multivariate analysis). Bonus: Previous publications and knowledge of AI methodologies.

Dark-diversity and community completeness in natural and rehabilitated vegetation – Species pools, taxon-based indices, and spatial-scaling. Functional trait spaces in natural and rehabilitated vegetation – Functional ecology, spatial-scaling, and trait diversity. Community assembly theories and modelling – Ecological saturation, niche-focused vs. neutral assembly models. AI-based ecological monitoring tools – Application of machine learning and computer vision in ecological restoration.
