What level of study are you in? Undergraduate: You must have completed high school. Master's: You need a Bachelor's degree (or something similar). Doctorate: You need a Master's degree (or something similar). Language skills: You'll need to be proficient in either Portuguese or English, depending on the main language of the program you choose. Academic record: They are looking for students with strong academic performance who show potential to succeed in their chosen field of study

Application Procedure
There's no fee to apply!
When to Apply:
Main Deadline: Between June 25th and September 30th.
Enrolled After Deadline: Apply within 20 working days of enrolling.
Starting a Traineeship: Apply within 20 working days of starting.
Applying with School Application: You might be notified of grant award along with your school acceptance (if receiving specific family allowances). Grant amount will be provisional and only awarded after enrollment confirmation.
During the School Year: Apply between October 1st and May 31st (grant amount will be adjusted based on application date and year-end).
Finishing Bachelor's and Starting Master's: Apply between June 25th and September 30th, or within 20 days of enrolling after September 30th.

Applications are done online only through the DGES website's student area . You'll need to create an account or use existing login details.

Use your existing login details if you applied in a previous year. If you forgot them, retrieve them on the DGES website .
Applied to Higher Education This Year?
If you mentioned applying for a grant in your school application, use the link from the email confirming your application receipt.
If the link doesn't work or you have no login details, get them by entering your personal information on the DGES website .
