Overview

Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC): full tuition waiver, monthly living stipend, on-campus accommodation or accommodation subsidy and comprehensive medical insurance for master's and doctoral students.

Shanghai Government Scholarship and SJTU Scholarship (graduate): doctoral students receive a monthly stipend, full tuition waiver, insurance and a partial accommodation subsidy; master's students receive either the full package (stipend, tuition, insurance and accommodation) or a tuition-only waiver.

Description

SJTU Scholarship (undergraduate): first-class awards cover tuition, a 2,500 CNY monthly stipend, a 1,100 CNY monthly accommodation subsidy and insurance for four years; second-class awards cover 50% of tuition (or full tuition for Chinese-taught programmes) plus the accommodation subsidy and insurance; third-class awards cover 25% of tuition and insurance.

Eligibility

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid passport. Candidates should exhibit good health, character, and a friendly attitude towards China. Educational qualifications: For master’s programs: A bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. For doctoral programs: A master’s degree or equivalent. Language Requirements: Proficiency in English or Chinese is mandatory. Applicants should provide proof through standardized tests like TOEFL, IELTS, or HSK.

Application Procedure

Apply online through the SJTU international admission portal (apply.sjtu.edu.cn) and tick "Apply for scholarship" (graduate applicants choose "Apply for scholarships through SJTU") when completing the application form; each applicant may apply for only one scholarship type, but candidates who miss their first choice are considered for the next tier. Pay the non-refundable application fee and upload your passport, transcripts, degree certificates, recommendation letters, CV, study plan and language certificate.
