Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Must be a citizen of an eligible Belt and Road country
Must meet age and academic requirements: Bachelor’s: Under 25, high school graduate Master’s: Under 35, bachelor’s degree holder PhD: Under 40, master’s degree holder
Bachelor’s: Under 25, high school graduate
Master’s: Under 35, bachelor’s degree holder
PhD: Under 40, master’s degree holder
Must meet Chinese language requirements (HSK Level III–V depending on program)
Must demonstrate strong academic performance
Must provide recommendation letters and a clear study plan

Application Procedure

Applicants must complete a dual application process:

Apply through the China Scholarship Council portal (Type B program)
Submit a separate application via Sun Yat-sen University’s international admissions system

Required documents include:

Academic transcripts and certificates
Language proficiency proof (HSK or equivalent)
Study or research plan (up to 3,000 words for PhD)
Recommendation letters
Medical examination report
Police clearance certificate
Undergraduate applicants may also need to take the China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA).
