Eligibility
The Summer Research Programme 2025 at HKU targets outstanding students who meet the following criteria:
Undergraduate students in Year 3 or Year 4 with a CGPA of 3.6 or above (or equivalent).
Master's degree students with a Bachelor's degree in 1st Class Honours (or equivalent).
Strong interest in pursuing research postgraduate studies.
Previous research experience and a keen interest in interdisciplinary studies.
High English proficiency.

Benefits
The HKU Summer Research Programme 2025 provides numerous benefits for participants, including:
One-to-One Mentorship: Each participant will be paired with an eminent professor to plan and conduct research projects tailored to their academic interests.
Scholarship Opportunities: Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a scholarship of HK$10,000.
Financial Support: Reimbursement for airfare (up to HK$5,000) and university accommodation (up to HK$5,000) is available for eligible participants.
Prizes and Awards: Top performers will be recognized with special prizes and awards.
Conditional PhD Offer: Exceptional participants may receive a conditional offer for the prestigious HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship, which provides up to HK$433,300 (US$55,560) in the first year and HK$413,300 (US$52,990) in subsequent years.

Application Procedure
Applications for the HKU Summer Research Programme 2025 will be open from January 2, 2025 (10am HKT) to February 3, 2025 (5pm HKT). Interested applicants need to submit the following documents:
Personal and academic information.
Proposed faculty, department, field of study, and mentor(s).
Personal statement (300-500 words) outlining career goals and expectations from the programme.
Research interest (100-200 words) describing focus areas.
Supporting documents such as:
Passport-size photo.
CV highlighting academic achievements and research experience.
Academic transcripts and certificates.
English proficiency test results (if applicable).
A non-refundable application fee of HK$300 is required, payable through credit cards, WeChat Pay, Alipay, or Faster Payment System (FPS).
Application Period: January 2, 2025 – February 3, 2025
Selection Process: February – Mid-March 2025
Announcement of Results: Mid-March 2025
Visa Application Period: Mid-March – Mid-April 2025
Programme Dates: June 2 – August 8, 2025
Note: Weeks 1 and 2 (June 2–15) can be conducted online, but physical attendance is required from Week 3 onwards (June 16 – August 8).
