TUM Germany PhD Fellowship 2025 in AI/ML (Fully Funded) is available to undertake PhD, Fellowship level programs at Technical University of Munich.

Eligibility

The fellowship is open only through nomination by the TUM Graduate School. To be eligible, applicants must:

Be fully registered on the doctoral candidacy list of their school (in DocGS)
Be a full member of the TUM Graduate School by the time of application
Expect to be enrolled at TUM through 2026/2027 academic year
Be in their final 2–3 years of the PhD program as of Fall 2025
Not hold another equivalent industry-sponsored full fellowship during the period of the Apple award

AI for accessibility
AI in health and wellness
Machine learning theory, algorithms, and architectures

Speech, natural language processing, and computer vision
Data-centric AI, knowledge retrieval, and ranking systems

Application Procedure

All applications must be submitted by the PhD supervisor to TUM Graduate School by August 1, 2025 . Direct submissions from students are not accepted .

200-word research abstract
4-page research statement : past work + plan for next 2 years
2 letters of recommendation (one from supervisor)
Transcripts (Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees)
Estimated tuition and fees for 2025–2026 (or bursary info if applicable)

“LastName, FirstName: Resume.pdf”
“LastName, FirstName: Research Statement.pdf”
“LastName, FirstName: Letters.pdf” (combine both letters in one file)

Selection Timeline

Deadline to apply: August 1, 2025
TUM will nominate 3 top candidates after internal review
Final selection by Apple based on merit and research quality
