Grant Amount : Up to £10,000

The grant can be used for:

Fieldwork, archival research, and data collection
Research assistant support and transcription services
Travel and accommodation for research visits
Organizing and participating in project-related workshops or conferences
Dissemination of research outcomes directly linked to the project
Please note: The grant does not cover salaries, computer equipment, or conference attendance unrelated to the proposed research.

Eligible Nationalities

Open to applicants from UK.

Who Can Apply

Postdoctoral researchers or scholars of equivalent standing who are ordinarily resident in the UK.
Applicants affiliated with UK institutions or independent scholars are eligible.
Co-applicants from outside the UK are welcome, but the Principal Applicant must be UK-based.
The scheme encourages projects from humanities and social sciences disciplines.

Selection Criteria And Special Funds

Applications are judged based on:

Clarity of the research question
Defined research outcomes
Relevance and impact in the applicant’s field
Justified budget for eligible research expenses

The programme is also supported by Special Funds such as:

British Accounting and Finance Association
EY
Honor Frost Foundation
Journal of Moral Education Trust
Society for the Advancement of Management Studies
Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain
Sino-British Fellowship Trust
Applicants do not need to specify which fund to apply for; all submissions are evaluated equally.

Important Notes

Minimum funding request: £500
Maximum grant limit: £10,000
Projects must be self-contained, with clearly defined objectives and tangible results upon completion
Funds are not for organizing international conferences unless directly linked to project dissemination
Applications solely for attending third-party conferences are not eligible

Application Procedure

Applications must be submitted through the British Academy’s Flexi-Grant system . Applicants should:

Register on Flexi-Grant (if not already registered)
Complete the online application form
Submit a detailed budget and justification of expenses
Obtain approval from their employing institution (if applicable)
Submit by 04 June 2025, 17:00 BST
