Overview

The UNESCO/Poland Fellowship Program offers seven fellowships for the 2025-2026 academic year. Selected candidates will spend nine months at the Faculty of Archaeology at Adam Mickiewicz University, between October 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. During this period, fellows will engage in a comprehensive training program covering new methods in archaeology and conservation, along with supplementary courses that will expand their knowledge and skill set in the field.

Fields Of Research And Study

Facilities And Benefits Offered By The Program

Free Tuition for 9 months and access to university facilities.

Monthly Allowance : PLN 2,200 for M.A. holders and PLN 1,800 for B.A. holders.

One-Time Special Allowance : PLN 2,200 for M.A. holders and PLN 1,800 for B.A. holders for cultural and academic activities.

International Travel Expenses : UNESCO covers the cost of travel from the fellow’s home country to Poland.

Health Insurance : UNESCO provides health insurance for fellows during the program.

Pocket Allowance : A special allowance of US$120.

Visa Information

Fellows from countries with a Polish embassy must obtain their visa in advance. For those without a local embassy, visas should be obtained through the nearest Polish consulate. Note that fellows must cover their passport and visa expenses themselves.

Eligible Nationalities

The UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowship is open to candidates from the following invited Member States :

Algeria, Bolivia, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Ghana, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Mauritius, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, Republic of South Africa, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan .

Application Procedure

The application process for the UNESCO/Poland Fellowship in Archaeology and Conservation involves several steps:

Candidates must inquire about the application procedure at the National Commission for UNESCO of their country. Check the contact information on the official UNESCO websit e.

Submit the following documents:

UNESCO Fellowship Application Form (completed in English).

Passport copy and identity photo .

Certified copies of the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

Language proficiency certificate (if applicable).

Two recommendation letters from academic or professional referees.

Submit your application documents to the National Commission for UNESCO of your country. The National Commission will review the applications and send the nominated candidates to UNESCO by May 28, 2025.

Once nominated by the National Commission, candidates must submit the complete application, including the information sheet, by June 11, 2025, midnight Paris time.
