University of Eastern Finland Scholarships 2025 for International Students is available to undertake Masters, Bachelor level programs at University of Eastern Finland.

Eligibility

International students from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland are required to pay tuition fees unless they meet one of the following exemption criteria: Hold a permanent residence permit (P) or continuous residence permit (A) in Finland (excluding those obtained for study purposes). Have an EU Blue Card or a residence card as a family member of an EU citizen. Possess a Brexit residence permit card under the withdrawal agreement. Have a residence permit for temporary protection in Finland. For exemptions, students must provide proof of their residence permit validity at the start of the academic year (August 1).

Benefits

UEF offers limited scholarships to highly qualified students. Scholarships and waivers do not cover living expenses or travel costs. 1. UEF Scholarship Coverage: 100% tuition fee waiver. Duration: Covers full study period (3 years for Bachelor’s, 2 years for Master’s). 2. UEF Tuition Waiver Coverage: 30% or 50% of tuition fees. Duration: Bachelor’s: 3 academic years (6 semesters). Master’s: 2 academic years (4 semesters). Programmes Offering Automatic 30% Tuition Waiver: Environmental Policy and Law Research Chemists Joint Nordic Master Programme in Environmental Law Urban Sustainability Studies (YUFE Bachelor) 50% Tuition Waiver: Available for all other international Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, but granted to a limited number of students. 3. Finnish Proficiency Tuition Waivers UEF encourages students to learn Finnish by offering proficiency-based waivers: 100% waiver: For students achieving "Intermediate Level 3 or 4" in the YKI Finnish Language Test. 50% waiver: For students completing UEF’s Finnish 3 course. 4. Humanitarian Scholarship (Temporary Protection Holders) Coverage: 100% tuition fee waiver. Refund Policy: If a student pays tuition and later receives temporary protection status, the fee will be refunded.

Application Procedure

Students must apply for scholarships and tuition waivers through the admission application form.
UEF Scholarship: Applied through the admission form when applying to UEF.
UEF Tuition Waiver: Applied through the admission form when applying to UEF.
Finnish Proficiency Tuition Waiver: Applied during studies at UEF.
Humanitarian Scholarship: Applied by students under temporary protection in Finland.
The tuition fee for international Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes at UEF is €10,000 per academic year. These fees apply only to students from outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland.
Bachelor’s Programmes: Typically take three years to complete, requiring a total payment of €30,000.
Master’s Programmes: Usually take two years, with a total tuition cost of €20,000.
The tuition fee must be paid by August 31, 2025 in either one or two installments.
Early Bird Discount: A one-time €500 deduction is available for students who accept their study place and pay their tuition fee via Flywire by June 11, 2025.

While UEF scholarships and tuition waivers reduce financial burdens, students should plan for additional costs:

Living Expenses: Estimated at €700-€1,200 per month.
Health Insurance: Mandatory for non-EU students.
Residence Permit Fees: Apply when studying in Finland.
