University of Freiburg Germany DAAD-EPOS Scholarships 2027 (Fully Funded) is available to undertake Masters level programs at University of Freiburg.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to young professionals from developing countries (DAC-listed) who meet all of the following criteria:

Bachelor’s degree completed within the last 6 years (before October 2025)
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience post-graduation (volunteering/internships not accepted)
A strong academic record (top third of class)
Must have not resided in Germany for more than 15 months prior to the application
Must demonstrate genuine need for a second Master’s (if already holding one)
Must meet MEG programme admission criteria and DAAD requirements
Note: Academic research or teaching roles are not generally considered valid work experience for this scholarship, except in exceptional cases.

Programme Overview Msc Environmental Governance Meg

The MEG programme at the University of Freiburg is an interdisciplinary Master’s degree that explores the intersection of environmental science, policy, and governance. The programme prepares graduates to design and implement sustainable solutions at the local, national, and global levels. It is conducted entirely in English and is known for its international cohort and practical approach to education.

The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) has selected the MEG programme as one of its development-related postgraduate courses , making it eligible for a limited number of EPOS scholarships . This scholarship fully funds your Master’s degree, covering:

Application Procedure

All application materials must be submitted by email to: info-meg@unr.uni-freiburg.de
Referees must send recommendation letters directly to this address. Incomplete or improperly formatted applications will not be considered.

Required Documents (All in one PDF):

DAAD Application Form (with matching information across all application materials)
MEG Application Form
Letter of Motivation (as per MEG Guidelines, max 2 pages, with date of issue)
If applying to multiple EPOS programmes, a second motivation letter is required.
CV in Europass format (no gaps, reverse chronological order, with date of issue)
Transcript of Records with final grade, grading scale, and certified translation (if needed)
University Degree Certificate (Bachelor’s and Master’s if applicable)
Work Experience Certificate(s) (stating exact dates on official letterhead, with signature and stamp)
Two Recommendation Letters
One from current employer (DAAD requirement)
One from an academic supervisor (MEG requirement)
English Language Certificate
Accepted tests: TOEFL iBT (min. 95), IELTS (Band 7), Cambridge C1, PTE (score 76)
Must be valid at time of application or test must be scheduled no later than October 15
Signed DAAD Checklist (must be signed by hand, not digital)
APS Certificate (only for applicants from China, India, Vietnam; can be submitted later)

Application Deadline

The application deadline is October 15, 2025 , for students beginning their studies in October 2026 .

Important Notes

Submit online eligibility assessment (OEA) by October 8, 2025 , to verify your eligibility
All documents must be merged into a single compressed PDF
Reference letters must be emailed by the referee directly
Final shortlisted candidates will be notified in January 2026 and invited for an interview
Final scholarship results will be announced by mid-February 2026
