Application Procedure
There is no separate scholarship application . Follow these steps:
Complete the UMN Freshman Admission Application via the Golden Gopher Application or Common App.

Do I need to maintain a specific GPA to keep the scholarship? Yes, like most renewable merit scholarships, you must maintain satisfactory academic progress toward your degree. This typically means a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0–2.5 (check your official award letter). If you drop below the requirement, you may lose the scholarship for future semesters.
Can I combine this scholarship with other financial aid or outside scholarships? Yes, in most cases. The UMN National Scholarship can be combined with federal aid (e.g., Pell Grant), state aid, and outside private scholarships. However, the total amount of all aid cannot exceed the cost of attendance at UMN. If you receive a full ride from another source, UMN may adjust your national scholarship.
