Eligibility
To qualify for the Excelencia Internacional Scholarship, applicants must:
Be a full-fee paying international student
Hold citizenship of an eligible South or Central American country (as listed in the official terms and conditions)
Be commencing in a CRICOS-registered undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program in Trimester 1, 2026 or later
Not be receiving any other scholarship from the University unless given special approval
Meet the Australian Government’s financial criteria for international students

1 25 Tuition Fee Reduction
The scholarship offers a 25% tuition fee waiver on the gross annual international tuition fee. This financial support is applied per unit of study and continues throughout the standard full-time program duration, subject to maintaining eligibility.
2 Fully Funded On Campus Accommodation
Recipients will benefit from guaranteed and fully funded accommodation on campus for 13 weeks (first semester only), easing the initial transition to student life in Australia.
3 Free English Language Support
Students who do not initially meet the English language requirements will receive up to 60 hours of English tuition at no cost, helping them meet the entry conditions of their chosen course.

Open to international students of South or Central American countries.

Application Procedure
There is no separate scholarship application required. When you apply to an eligible course at the University of Newcastle , your application is automatically considered for the scholarship, provided all criteria are met.

Required Documents
There are no extra documents required for this scholarship. All necessary documents should be uploaded with your degree program application via the University’s official portal.
Selection Process
Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and availability (maximum of 25 awards ).
Final decisions rest with the University of Newcastle and are conveyed through your Letter of Offer .
The university reserves the right to decline the award even if eligibility criteria are met.
Ineligible Categories
You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are:
A recipient of Australia Awards or other external sponsorships
Enrolled in ELBP, Non-Award, Exchange, Higher Research programs
Applying to excluded quota-limited programs or offshore/online campuses
A current student of the University of Newcastle’s Singapore campus transferring into Australia

No. The scholarship is automatically considered when you apply for an eligible course at the University of Newcastle.
Q2 Can I Combine This Scholarship With Another One
No. You cannot receive this scholarship if you are already receiving another scholarship from the University of Newcastle, unless special approval is granted.

No. The accommodation is only for the first semester , fully funded for up to 13 weeks.
