Eligibility
To qualify for the UQ Graduate School Scholarships (UQGSS) and RTP, applicants must: Be nominated by an enrolling UQ school or institute. Meet all admission conditions for the higher degree by research (HDR) program. Not be receiving a living stipend or scholarship that provides a benefit exceeding 75% of the RTP Scholarship living allowance rate.

Benefits
Living stipend: $36,400 per annum (tax-free, 2025 rate), indexed annually. Full tuition fee coverage for the duration of the degree. Single Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for international students. Scholarship duration: 3.5 years with a possibility of a 6-month extension.

Application Procedure
Applying for the UQGSS is streamlined with no separate scholarship application required. To apply:
Submit an application for a PhD or MPhil at the University of Queensland.
Under the ‘https://scholarships.uq.edu.au/scholarship/graduate-school-scholarships-uqgss-%E2%80%93-includes-rtp’ section, select "I would like to be considered for a UQ scholarship to cover a living allowance stipend and tuition fee expenses."
Submit the application before the relevant closing date.

Academic performance and evidence of research capability.

Expertise of the advisory team, including previous supervision experience and research alignment.
Domestic students who need to study part-time due to carer responsibilities, medical conditions, or disabilities may be eligible for the living stipend scholarship.
