Each GREAT Scholarship provides a minimum award of £10,000 towards tuition fees for one-year postgraduate taught programmes in the UK.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the University of Surrey GREAT Scholarship for Kenya, applicants must:

Be a Kenyan passport holder and permanent resident of Kenya
Hold an unconditional offer for a full-time postgraduate taught course at the University of Surrey starting September 2026
Demonstrate academic merit and commitment to their chosen field
Have relevant work experience or a proven interest in the subject area
Be willing to actively engage in UK higher education experiences
Act as an ambassador for UK higher education and the GREAT brand
Attend a GREAT scholars’ networking event in the UK
Demonstrate future contribution to capacity-building and socio-economic development in Kenya
Maintain contact with the British Council and support future GREAT scholars

Step 1 Apply For Admission

Apply for a full-time postgraduate taught programme at the University of Surrey and secure an offer (conditional or unconditional).

Step 2 Complete The Great Scholarship Application

Once you receive your offer and University Reference Number (URN) , complete the GREAT Scholarship application form available on the University of Surrey website.

Step 3 Await Selection Outcome

Eligible applications will be assessed based on academic merit, motivation, and alignment with the objectives of the GREAT Scholarships programme.
