Description

Eligibility

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program welcomes applications from highly qualified American students, but there are some key requirements: Academic Background: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) is required for most programs. However, for creative and performing arts applicants, four years of professional experience can substitute for a traditional degree. Language Skills: You must demonstrate proficiency in the language of your host country to succeed in your studies and daily life. Language requirements vary by program, so ensure you meet the specific one for your chosen award. Professional Degrees: Law students: J.D. degrees are acceptable at the time of application. Medical Doctors: Grants are available for advanced academic study (not internships or residencies). If you hold an M.D. and propose independent/collaborative research at a hospital or clinic, consider applying to the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program instead. The program cannot support activities requiring medical or nursing licenses. Proposals involving clinical training, patient care, or patient contact are not permitted.
