Eligibility
To be eligible for DAR scholarships, applicants must meet the following:
Be a U.S. citizen.
Plan to attend or be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university.
Provide transcripts (high school, college, or graduate depending on level).
Submit 2–4 letters of recommendation.
Upload proof of U.S. citizenship.

Frequently Asked Questions Faqs
Do I need to be a DAR member to apply? No, most scholarships are open to all U.S. citizens. Only a few, such as the Lillian & Arthur Dunn Scholarship and the Madeline Pickett (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship, require DAR membership or relation.
Can home-schooled students apply? Yes, but they must provide transcripts from grades 9–12.
Do I need to submit SAT/ACT scores? No. DAR no longer requires standardized test scores or class rank for high school applicants.
Is financial need required? Only for five specific scholarships (e.g., Caroline E. Holt, Mildred Nutting Nursing Scholarship, American Indian Scholarships).
Can letters of recommendation be from family members? No. Recommendations must come from teachers, counselors, instructors, employers, ministers, or professional references.
