The Weatherhead Scholars Program 2026–2027 offers three distinct tracks, each designed to support different types of candidates:
Open to scholars who earned a PhD within the last three years (or will have completed all degree requirements by the start of the fellowship).
Must specialize in international, comparative, or transnational issues within fields such as political science, sociology, economics, history, environmental studies, or related disciplines.
Funding Opportunities include:
Raphael Morrison Dorman Fellowship – open to all social sciences in international affairs.
Moulay Hicham Alaoui Postdoctoral Fellowship – focused on climate and environmental research in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Sang-Kee Kim Fellowship – focused on research in East and Southeast Asia (excluding China and Japan).
Benefits:
USD $70,000 salary, Harvard benefits, and a one-year academic appointment.
Application deadline:
October 15, 2025.
Designed for tenured or tenure-track faculty (or equivalent international faculty positions).
Must hold a PhD in a relevant social science discipline and demonstrate an active research agenda on international or comparative topics.
Applicants are expected to secure their own funding (sabbatical salary, external research grants, etc.).
Administrative fee: USD $10,000 for the academic year or $5,000 per semester.
